‘The cost of the sprawling facility would have been much steeper were it not for the prefabricated enclosure covering the 31,000-square-foot pool area, says project architect Jim Moore of Phillips Metsch Sweeney Moore Architects in Santa Barbara, Calif.’
(Recreation Management, May/June, 2006)

‘Opening a combination of wall and roof panels creates a "natural flue effect, so ventilation doesn't cost a lot of money,"’
(Randy Mendioroz , Aquatic Design Group, in Recreation Management, May/June, 2006)

“This is a tremendous facility. We’ve been told there’s nothing else like this in the state of California.”
(Dan McCaffrey , Director of Parks, Recreation and Urban Forrestry, Lompoc, CA, in Aquatics International, April, 2006)

The City of Lompoc California had to replace their old pool. High community demand for year round access meant a new indoor facility. However, the municipality wanted to minimize operating costs.
They found the solution to their dilemma in OpenAire’s unique operable building system.
Utilizing a combination of glass, polycarbonate and standing seam roofing, the Lompoc Aquatic Center is one of a kind. The opening roof minimizes mechanical costs while maximizing public interest. Not only is the building energy efficient, it is a
spectacular attraction in its own right.

OpenAire designed, manufactured and installed the primary building, 100'x270'; the smaller adjacent enclosure, 72'x50'; and the unique diamond shaped entry way.
