After much consultation, the Theirings selected
OpenAire. Completed in September 2000, the glass-enclosed teaching
facility now permits a swim program that runs year-round. Indeed, the 5
acre, 10,000 member, award winning club has something for everyone.
Jim
Theiring says “… business used to be seasonal and now Almaden
Valley is open all year round … enrolment is up … the OpenAire
enclosure has made a tremendous difference … there has been a definite
investment payback.” |

OpenAire's design team and the architect developed a
glass-enclosed teaching facility that is a gable style enclosure which
spans 73’ and is 78’9” long. Divided into 10 bays, 16 panels open up
approximately 50% of the roof area at the touch of a button. All the
framing is thermally broken aluminum extrusions, non-corrosive material
that is highly appropriate for an aquatic environment. The roof glazing is
25mm quintuple wall polycarbonate and provides a .27U value. The new
indoor pool was painted in bright colors with a whimsical aquatic theme
which results in a bright and friendly environment.
